Students with foreign degrees

In order to certify the validity of studies undertaken outside of Spain, it is necessary to carry out specific procedures allowing the existence of both the issuing institution and the studies followed and titles obtained to be verified.

Verification that the title guarantees an equivalent educational level to the corresponding Spanish university titles and that it provides, in the issuing country, access to Masters courses is the responsibility of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CEP). Students must pay the corresponding fee set out in the Price List issued by the Department of Education and Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands into the current account detailed below:

Oficina "Universitat"

IBAN: ES49 2051 0151 6810 7000 2828

The amount for this fee for the year 2011-12 is 43,28 euros which students must pay into the above account listing the item as "sololicitud comprovació equivalencia". No verification will be carried out until payment of said fee is confirmed.

The legalisation of overseas documents, here academic, complies with international agreements applicable between the issuing country for the academic document and the country where accreditation of the latter is sought. The procedures vary in accordance with the original country (and/or destination) for the studies or titles. (Please see subsection: "Types of International Agreements"); specifically, those documents issued in European Union member states and signatories to the agreement on the European Economic Area or to a bilateral agreement with the European Union do not require any legalisation process.

It is important to remember that all documents must be supplied in originals with a certified copy. Please see subsection "Document Certification at the UIB". In any case, you are recommended that, once the documents are legalised, certified copies are obtained from a notary public (registered in Spain, as certifications issued by an overseas notary public cannot be accepted) or the Spanish diplomatic representation in your country; these copies will be those the UIB finally keeps to be included in your file.

Please, take note: Tuition prices of official master’s degrees have an increase of 15% for students from states outside the European Union.
